Science students build rockets, make history
Thomas Morrison’s Earth Space Science class built and launched "bottle" rockets and created dinosaur footprints. The class was learning about dinosaurs from all around the world and the different footprints they all produced. The footprints represented the History of the Earth and how old the Earth really is. Footprints gave information about different species that used to roam the Earth. The class was studying about space, and the rockets represented space travel, the space programs, and aerodynamics. “The diet coke and mentos rockets went really bad” Morrison said. “But just the plain water rockets went very well.” |

Justin Windler was the starting pitcher. He played three innings and six people scored off him. Then they brought in Jeff Welch and he played for one inning. He had two people score off him. Then in the fifth inning, they brought in Justin Akin he pitched the rest off the game. While he was pitching, they scored one run off him. Northwest wins with the final score being 10-3. When Justin Akin was asked what he felt like when he closed the last game of the season against Northwest, he said, “At first I was angry, then I realized we did all we could and just fell short. They were a great ball team and came to play that day. We left everything between the lines, what more could you ask for.” |

Summer time activities
Summer is pretty much here; time to kick back, relax, stay up way too late, do crazy things, get tans and hang out with your friends. Summer time is great, besides the fact that it's scorching hot outside, and there are always those boring days when it seems like there's nothing to do. So here is a reminder of things you can do on those days: Go swimming. Swimming is the best way to cool down on a sizzling hot day. Go catch a movie at the movie theater. Grub on some popcorn and watch a nice movie. Gather up some friends and go to the drive in. Go to the zoo. Throw on some shorts and a tank top. Make sure you've got water beacuse you will get super thirsty without it. Go cosmic bowling with friends. Go go the mall. Go shopping by yourself or just go and hang with friends there. Check out the Exploration place. They always have some kind of activity going on there. Volunteer somewhere. Businesses love when people volunteer and it makes you look good. Giving back to the community is always appreciated. Get a summer job. Weather its working at a fast food restaurant or babysitting, everybody loves the money. Who doesn't want to make a little summer dough? Have road trip get together with your friends and go somewhere like Rock River Rapids in Derby. It's nice and Derby is only about twenty minutes away. There's always something to do so when you're thinking, "I'm so bored, summer is so boring." Just think, it's better than sitting in a class room and there are plenty of things to do. |

Students and summer plans
Here are a few Heights students and their plans for summer break. Santiago Gimenez, senior: "Hopefully going to Miami for two weeks, and working."
Grant Polley, senior: "Moving into my new house in Lawrence and working to save money for college."
Madison Wheeler, sophomore: "Going on some vacations and volleyball conditioning."
Tyler Nattier, freshman: "I’m just going to hang out and rest." Summer is fun and stress free for almost everyone. Most people like to relax and have fun. This includes swimming, sleeping, vacations and everything but schoolwork. Some people have lots of things going on in the summer and others just wing it and go by each day. Summer is two months of relax time, but everyone spends their summer differently. |
