Boys Varsity 50th Win
The Boys' Varsity 50th Win
The team’s 50th win was has been an “amazing accomplishment,” says the coach. The boys team well past the 50th win, looks forward to a promising season. Coach Auer, the head coach at Heights says, “We really try to think about each game, a game at a time.”
The strengths of the games a few weeks ago were Perry Ellis. He set the all time scoring record at Heights. Also Gavin Hurman played well and shot well, also a big strength of the game, according to Coach Auer.
There were weaknesses to the game though, as there are to any game that can be played. The team seemed to have weaknesses boxing out, but they spent time on that in practice. “Practicing boxing out and defense is really what we worked on at practice the next day” said Coach Auer.
“Being a coach can be hard but it is also fun and rewarding. Although it is time consuming, especially being a teacher and a coach,” Coach Auer said, “I have been coaching since 1996 and this is my 17th season as a basketball coach. Before that I was a baseball coach.” The coach has been through good and bad teams at heights, he has the opportunity to have a great team right now, and is working hard to be an accomplished coach.
