Soccer Preview

Written by Callie Mauk

Another team kicking off their fall season is the Heights boys soccer team. Last year, varsity finished with a 7-12 record and a Regional Championship. Nine seniors will lead this year’s squad and potentially help claim the league, regional, and state titles. Coach Reece tells, “the team is more mature and we hope to be stronger in all aspects.” To prepare for the road ahead, the boys have been training and conditioning all summer and also, trying a new formation making them more aggressive offensively and defensively according to Coach Kelley. After postponing their first game due to extreme heat, the boys will play at East on September 13th at 4:30 pm. Both coaches are confident that the Falcons are ready to play. The game schedule is online and everyone is encouraged to attend games. There is one obvious goal for the 18 varsity players: TO WIN. If they can manage to take state, it would be the first time in Heights history, adding to the school’s state titles including last year’s record five.
