Music Amongst Students

Written by Ashton Bell

With the art of music being so involved in everything we do, it should have a significant effect on students both inside and outside of the classroom. We would find out that most students own an iPod/mp3 player in their pocket if we were to search students at a regular high school. Here at Heights there is a rule that where whether or not the students can preoccupy their ears during schoolwork it's the teacher’s choice. Students like the fact that they have teachers that allow them to do so. Most students would even say it helps their concentration.

Being a student that enjoys his music during work, I think it is very helpful and should be allowed in every class. Of course with the exception of listening to music during lectures and demonstrations, because that is looked upon as a sign of disrespect amongst our instructors. Music shouldn’t be censored if it is not being a distraction to other students by being too loud or a student being too demonstrative with it.
