An important goal of Heights High School teachers is to prepare students for the future. Some students are not thinking ahead for careers out of high school and/or out of college. With the economy going down the drain, the future of America, and America’s economy relies on what this generation of students do with their life.

The food in the cafeteria is absolutely atrocious. You can literally look and tell it's not real meat. You pay your money for food that more than half of it you throw away because it doesn't look or taste edible.
Who wants to eat something called "meat patty"? They don't even know what type of meat it is, but they serve it to you.

Don't get me wrong, some of it isn't that bad,  but others is just disgusting.
Schools should pay more money for better food that they know is safe to feed their students. That way they won't be wasting their money on food that will just get thrown away, and actually get eaten. If that was the case, more students would eat at school, not go out to eat, then they would make more money.

The food they have now is ridiculous, they really need to change what they serve on our trays everyday. Not only would they make more money, the kids that eat junk food from the vending machines might trade it and eat the better food, and eat healthier. Or the kids who refuse to eat it, might eat the new stuff and not miss out on nutrients they need.

It would be a win win for both students and the district. It's a choice they really should consider.

For anyone who loves a chocolate treat, this article was written for them. Believe it or not, there are millions of chocolate dishes in the world. These recipes can be included in breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks, as well as desserts. It’s surprising how something sweet can fit into things people eat everyday.

It is said that chocolate first came from the Aztecs at least 4,000 years ago. All chocolate starts from the cacao tree. The three most popular types of chocolate are milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate. Milk chocolate was introduced first followed by dark chocolate and last but not least white chocolate after World War 1.

Chocolate is one of the most popular candies to ever be invented. If someone were to walk into any gas station, restaurant, or store, they would most likely have something that contains chocolate.

Even though chocolate has a lot of calories, the cacao that chocolate is made from is actually healthy for you to eat. The cacao that is in chocolate is a powerful antioxidant. The things that add calories to the chocolate are when you put sugar and other high calorie content into the chocolate.

According to some, American chocolate is not all that people make it up to be. The foreign students here at Heights High School say that the chocolate in America compared to their chocolate is not good. Our students from Belgium and Slovakia say their chocolate is more solid but melts in your mouth also. They also state that their chocolate comes in more variety. “ Hershey’s chocolate is like plastic,” says Elise Barbay.  Our students from Germany and Norway also agree that European chocolate has more variety and tastes better than American chocolate. All of our foreign students say that their chocolate is harder but also melts in your mouth unlike American chocolate that is already soft.

One of the most popular beverages that contain chocolate is hot chocolate or cocoa. Some of the reasons why is because it is easy to make and takes a small amount of time to make. The first recipe is a simple and quick hot chocolate that can be enjoyed any time of the year.

"PERFECTLY CHOCOLATE" Hot Cocoa

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons sugar

2 to 3 teaspoons HERSHEY'S Cocoa

Dash salt

1 cup milk

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions: Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in large mug. Heat milk in microwave at HIGH (100%) 1-1/2 minutes or until hot. Gradually add hot milk to cocoa mixture in mug, stirring until well blended. Stir in vanilla. 1 serving. (http://www.hersheys.com/recipes.aspx)

Some things that contain chocolate don’t look like they have chocolate in them and may not even taste like hey have chocolate in them. The next recipe of red velvet cake does just that, it looks as if it has no chocolate in it but does.  Red velvet cake is red just like it says in the name. The chocolate is very hidden because it has so many other flavors in the cake and frosting.

Fabulous Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup vegetable shortening

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon cocoa powder

2 ounces red food coloring

2 1/2 cups cake flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon vinegar

White Frosting:

2 tablespoons flour

1 cup milk

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup confectioners' sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In the bowl of a mixer, cream together the shortening, eggs and sugar. In a separate small bowl, mix together the cocoa and food coloring. Add the paste to the shortening mixture. Sift the flour and salt together over parchment. Add to the batter alternately with the buttermilk in 3 additions. Add the vanilla extract. Fold in the baking soda and vinegar. Pour the batter into 2 greased 9-inch cake pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until an inserted cake tester comes out clean. Let cool on a cooling rack. Invert the cakes from the pans.

Frosting: Over medium heat, cook the flour and milk until thickened. Let cool. In the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Beat in the flour mixture. Frost the top of the first layer with frosting and set the second layer on top. Frost the entire cake with remaining frosting. According to Kazuela Edwards (freshman) chocolate is the best, “ I absolutely LOVE chocolate”. Many other Heights High students have a sweet tooth also.” I would definitely see myself making any of these recipes,” says Shelby Smith (freshman). “ I think this would be a great story to do for chocolate lovers,” says Deja Decker (sophomore).  So there you have it chocolate is very popular even with our very own Falcons. The recipes included can help try something new, or help make a sweet treat to eat. Either way they will be delicious in the end.
